I run my house like a warehouse

Every week the shopping trolley costs a bit more. Same trolley, same family, more money at the checkout.

I can't control what the supermarket charges. What I can control is how I run my own house. So I run it like a warehouse with inventory.

Every item has its location. Once an item runs out, we replenish it.

That's the whole system. It's how a warehouse works: you know what you've got, you know where it lives, and you know when it's gone. When the spot on the shelf is empty, it goes on the list. When it isn't, it doesn't.

It's how I try to control my own personal spending. Prices keep going up, and I can't change that. What I can change is buying only what we've actually run out of.
