What's your real inflation rate?

The official inflation rate is an average of everybody. You're not everybody. If most of your money goes on rent, groceries and fuel, your own rate can be very different from the number on the news. Work yours out in two minutes.

1. Open your last month's statementBank or card. Add up what you spent in each category.
2. Open the same month last yearSame categories, same time of year, so seasons don't skew it.
3. Type both in, then calculateLeave out anything you didn't buy both times.

What it means

Your numbers stay with you. This calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Sweep or saved anywhere. Close the page and it's gone, unless you download it.
How it's worked out. Your rate is the change in your total spending across the categories you filled in, so the things you spend most on count most, the same way the official rate weights categories. One caveat: if you bought more or less of something (not just paid a different price), that shows up here too. For the truest figure, compare months where you bought roughly the same things.

Sweep works this out for you automatically from what you actually buy, and shows you which categories are driving it. It also rounds up your spending into bitcoin, in a wallet only you control.
